The 400FX is a scaled-down version of the FX Console, in the form of an M400.
It came with 12 tape frames, each with 105 sounds, one per track (35 x 3 = 105).
All 12 frames include the entire sound bank (1260 sounds) included in the FX Console.
Most of the sounds were arranged to form a sequence by playing the adjacent keys. For example, for the sound of a car: slamming of the door, starting, engine idling, engine noise while driving …
The control panel includes the following settings:
- General Volume
- Headphone Volume
- Pitch Control
- Track Selector
The wooden cabinet is gray BBC.
The 400FX is equipped with an SMS-2 servo card and has a balanced output.
